Most Excellent Speaker ***ASCE is really excited about our speaker for the first general meeting of the Spring Semester. John E. Pearson is a Senior Associate/Assistant Unit Manager for WJE. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla and then continued on to the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign to get his Master of Science in Structural Engineering. Since joining WJE in 1990, Mr. Pearson has worked on a broad range of assignments for stadiums, parking garages, buildings, building components, and bridges, as well as heavy machinery. His work has focused on the testing and instrumentation of structural components. Mr. Pearson has developed and installed numerous computer-controlled data acquisition systems, which involved monitoring fatigue stresses in a dredge and a die cast press and vibrations and displacements in buildings and bridges. He has extensive experience in performing laboratory tests on various structural materials and elements. ***Mr. Pearson will address condition surveys of existing structures. This is one area of work that WJE is involved in frequently. The talk will focus on assessing existing structures for a variety of reasons: use change, deterioration, rehabilitation. The methods performing conditions surveys will also be discussed. ***Come one, come all and enjoy this exciting speaker!
