PIZZA! Welcome
Back from the Prez… Hey Civils, my name is Christine Strom, and I am the
current president of ASCE. I
want to take this opportunity to welcome you all back to Champaign, and to
welcome for the first time all of the transfer and freshman CE’s.
I hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer, but most of all, I
hope you are ready to participate in all of the activities that the ASCE
officers are currently planning for you.
ASCE will be starting the semester off next Wednesday with Donut
Day in the morning and the first General Meeting in the evening. In
addition, ASCE will be treating everyone to ice cream in the Crane Bay the
following day at our first ever Ice Cream Social.
Whether you are a new student or a returning student, grad or
undergrad, I encourage you all to get involved in ASCE and take advantage
of the many different opportunities this semester including field trips,
community service, career shadow and much more.
Don’t take my word for it, come to our first General Meeting and
see what ASCE is all about. ASCE
is always working to bring our members events and activities they want and
will benefit them. If you have any suggestions of what you would like to
see for ASCE in the coming semesters, I would love to hear from you, so
please email me. Good luck to everyone this semester, and I look forward
to seeing you all next week at the General Meeting.
Sincerely, Christine Strom ASCE Prez
Hey
Freshmen! The
ASCE executive board is looking to take a young member under its wings and
teach them the ropes of life on the ASCE exec board.
ASCE will be electing a Freshmen Representative at the first
General Meeting to join our Executive Board.
The Freshmen Representative will serve as the voice of the new
members of ASCE. As freshmen, we encourage you to come to our first
General Meeting and hear what we have to offer, at the end of the meeting,
we will elect a Rep on the spot. This is a great way to get involved in
ASCE right from the start, gain leadership experience, and get to know
your fellow CEE peers. Field
Trip to… The
Illinois Concrete Company is a precast company located in Champaign that
specializes in masonry concrete block, pipes and manholes, and bridge
girders. We will have the
opportunity to tour the engineering offices, plant, and yards.
