Internet Chair

If you would like to run for a position, please apply online by December 1st.  This is a great opportunity to get involved in ASCE, all members young and old are encouraged to apply.  Just see what are retiring president, Jeremy Butkovich, has to say about his experience on the ASCE executive board:

Deciding to become an ASCE Officer was the defining moment of my college career.  Looking back on it, the ASCE Executive Board has been a source of countless friendships, unforgettable experiences, and valuable lessons in my life.  I’ve gotten the chance to visit Seattle , Kansas City, Houston , and Washington , D.C.   I’ve gained valuable insight into the civil engineering professional world, and now have many professional contacts (most of them former ASCE Officers!).  I’ve learned how to become a leader, and how to work with groups of people with varying backgrounds.  So, you’re probably wondering why I’m telling you all this.  Well, it just so happens that ASCE will be holding Officer elections at the final general meeting at the end of April.  This is your chance to define your college career.  So take a chance and run for a position.  It could be the best decision you’ll ever make.

Cheers,

Jeremy Butkovich

ASCE President

Nationals in Nashville

One of the biggest opportunities bestowed upon an ASCE officer is the invitation to attend the ASCE National Conference.  This year’s conference took place in good ol’ Nashville , Tennessee .  Five officers attended the conference:  Jeremy Butkovich, Michelle Rueck, Kevin Hatcher, Dan Swiatek, and Christine Strom.  I found the conference to be a really great experience.  We got to listen to many interesting presentations such as the new addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum and how the great pyramid of Giza was built.  The company expos at the conference were also a great way to network with civil engineers across the country and see the latest technological applications to the profession.  Conference aside, we also found time to site see in Nashville , and of course, line dance.  YEEHAW!
